Pakistan's Defense Minister's statement, Finance Ministry does not have money to conduct elections
Islamabad, Mar 25, (Fast Mail News):-- Pakistan's Defense Minister Khwaja Asif has given a big statement amidst the ongoing movement for early elections by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the party of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. He has said that Pakistan's Finance Ministry does not have the necessary funds to hold elections.
The then governments of Pakistan's Tehreek-e-Insaf party dissolved the assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces on 14 and 18 January. After this, on March 1, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered elections to be held in both the states within 90 days of the dissolution of the assembly. Under this, elections were to be held in Punjab in April and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in May, but now the Election Commission has ordered to postpone the provincial elections to be held in Punjab. Citing the poor law and order situation in the country, the Election Commission has taken this step. Which is being opposed by Imran Khan's party.
In the midst of this protest, the statement of Pakistan's Defense Minister Khwaja Asif has come up for discussion. Talking to the international media, Khwaja Asif said that the country's finance ministry does not have the money to conduct elections.
His statement is giving a clear indication that the government of Pakistan does not want to hold elections at present and it is being considered as a big blow for Imran Khan. Khwaja Asif also said that the dissolution of state assemblies by the then governments of Imran Khan's party was unconstitutional. He said that Imran Khan was removed from the power of the country only in a constitutional manner. He lost the trust vote and now he is not even appearing before the court.
