30 Naxals killed in gun fight in Chhatisgarh

At least 30 Naxals were killed Friday in a fierce gunfight with government forces in Chhattisgarh, officials said.

The gunfight between Naxals and joint contingents of police force broke out in Abhujmad forest area of Narayanpur district, about 200 km south of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh.

Police said the gunfight was triggered after police forces cordoned off the villages on specific intelligence information suggesting the presence of Naxals in Narayanpur and Dantewada districts. During the raid,a large number of automatic weapons have been recovered from the spot.

In the encounter between security forces and Naxalites, the bodies of about 28 Maoists have been confirmed to be recovered. The encounter took place at night.

According to the information, there is no news of any security force being injuared, all the soldiers are safe.

An encounter has also taken place in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday i.e. 4 October. Police had recovered a huge amount of material from the Naxalites.
