6 killed in Czech Republic restaurant fire
Prague:At least six people killed and six other injured in a massive fire in a restaurant in the northern part of the Czech Republic.
All the injured have been admitted to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Czech Republic firefighters said the incident took place on Saturday in the city of Most, located about 100 kilometers (63 miles) north of Prague.
The fire broke out in the 'U Kojota' restaurant here before midnight. Police and firefighters said the cause of the fire was due to a gas heater. The fire was brought under control by 1 o'clock and more than 60 firefighters had to work hard to douse it.
Relief and rescue teams rescued at least 30 people safely in this fire. The burnt people were admitted to hospitals in Most and nearby cities. The matter is being investigated.
After visiting the spot on Sunday morning, Home Minister Vit Rakusan said that about 30 people were evacuated from the restaurant and a nearby apartment. Most Mayor Marek Hrvol said it was the worst tragedy in the city's recent history.
