Angul police bust a motorcycle thief gang

ANGUL: Angul town police have busted a well-knit motorcycle thief gang by arresting six persons and recovered six stolen motorcycles besides engine and chassis.

The arrested are Amit Behera,20 Rajesh Khan ,19Bijay Penthoi,32,Kanha Khan,19,Abhimanyu Jena,48 and Sushil Sahoo,37.Abhi and sushil are two scrap dealers belonging to Angul.The arrested thieves belong to Angul town,Kosala and Chhendipada rea of the district.

This motorcycle thieves gang has been active in Angul town,Chhendipada and Sadar area for the last several months.

According to IIC Dhiresh Dash,there was a report of motorcycle theft lodged by one Manoj Behera of Malati Bihar on December6 that his motorcycle was stolen from his house by miscreants.He said after getting the report a police team was formed by Angul SP Rahul Jain who carried out raids and launched investigations to find out culprits.The team first nabbed Amit Behera who had,after interrogation had revealed the other members of his gang.

Police raided other members of the gang and nabbed one by one.

The IIC also said police recovered six motorcycles besides one chassis and engine.

Investigations are on to trace other stolen motorcycles in the district.Dash also said the arrested thieves have been forwarded to court today.
