Attack by PM Modi and Shah on Constitution is not acceptable : Rahul Gandhi

NEW DELHI: The session of the 18th Lok Sabha began today after the formation of the new government. Protem Speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab administered the oath to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, cabinet ministers and opposition members. During the oath taking ceremony, one special thing caught everyone's attention. All the opposition MPs took oath holding the Constitution book in their hands, while no MP from the ruling party did so.

When journalists asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi about this outside the Parliament, he responded by taking PM Modi and Amit Shah to task. He said, "The way Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are attacking the Constitution is not acceptable to us, so we are holding the Constitution while taking oath."

When Rahul Gandhi was asked if he wanted to give any message by doing this, he said that it is definitely a message. “No power can touch the Constitution of India. For us, the Constitution of India is everything and whoever attacks it, we will not spare him”,Rahul Gandhi said.Rahul also showed the book of the Constitution to the journalists and said that see, this is everything for us.
