Big blow to Aam Aadmi Party as 8 MLAs quit ahead of Delhi polls

By Jagadananda Pradhan

NEW DELHI:Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) got a big blow on Friday as eight MLAs of 'AAP' left Kejriwal and announced to leave the party. Those who left the party include Rajesh Rishi, Naresh Yadav, Bhavana Gaur, Rohit Mehraulia, BS June, Madan Lal, Pawan Sharma and Girish Soni. It is being told that all the MLAs were angry for not getting tickets this time.

In a letter to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, these MLAs said they have resigned from the primary membership of the party and also left the membership of the assembly by writing a letter to the speaker.

According to reports,AAP MLA from Mehrauli Assembly, Naresh Yadav resigned from the party because he didn’t get his ticket. Along with resigning, Naresh Yadav informed his constituency residents about this decision through social media.

Naresh Yadav, while resigning, said that Aam Aadmi Party was formed from Anna's movement against corruption, whose aim was to eliminate corruption from Indian politics. However, he expressed grief and said that now Aam Aadmi Party itself is stuck in the quagmire of corruption, which once stood against corruption. He said, "I had joined Aam Aadmi Party for honest politics, but now honesty is not visible anywhere in the party. I have worked with full honesty in Mehrauli assembly for the last 10 years and the people there know that I have always done politics of good behavior and work."

He further said that he discussed with the people of Mehrauli, who told him that Aam Aadmi Party is now completely involved in corruption. He alleged, "The people of Delhi know that the party has included corrupt people in its party." Expressing gratitude to his supporters, he said that he will always do politics of honesty and wants the support of the people of his area in the future as well.

On the resignation of AAP MLAs, Congress candidate from Kalkaji constituency Alka Lamba said, "Their (MLAs) tickets have been cut...Arvind Kejriwal left his MLAs to make money...their (AAP) time has come...the countdown for Arvind Kejriwal has begun...he will lose all seats...the party will split into two and only Arvind Kejriwal will survive”.
