Bihar: Policeman Turns Killer, Constable Murders Wife in Patna

PATNA:--In a shocking incident, a constable murdered his wife on Saturday in a government residence located within the premises of the Pirbahore police station in Bihar’s capital, Patna. Following information from the deceased’s family, police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and initiated an investigation.

A police officer stated that the constable, identified as Dhananjay Kumar, lived with his wife in the government accommodation at the Pirbahore police station premises. Currently, he is posted at the police lines.

It is alleged that Dhananjay killed his wife and fled the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind the murder was a domestic dispute.

Patna City ASP Diksha, who reached the spot, said that the deceased’s family had informed the police about the murder. Upon receiving the information, the police promptly arrived at the location. A First Information Report (FIR) is being registered based on the statements of the family members.

She further informed that a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has been called in to assist with the investigation. Initial findings point to a domestic dispute as the cause of the murder, though the police are exploring all possible angles.

Regarding the cause of death, ASP Diksha stated that it would only be confirmed after the postmortem report is received. The accused constable is currently absconding, and raids are being conducted to apprehend him.

Sources indicate that following a dispute, the constable allegedly strangled his wife to death before fleeing. It is reported that the couple had returned from a pilgrimage to Mahakumbh in Prayagraj two days prior to the incident. Before the murder, they had dropped their young daughter off at her maternal grandmother’s house.
