BJP people talk about violence 24 hours a day,Hindus can never spread hatred and fear: Rahul Gandhi

NEW DELHI: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is spreading violence and hatred and that the Constitution and the concept of India are being attacked in a planned manner for the last 10 years.

While participating in the discussion on the motion of thanks brought on the President's address, he also claimed that opposition leaders are being put in jail. He said, "The country has protected the Constitution together. It feels good that the BJP people are now saying Constitution, Constitution."

Rahul Gandhi said, "In the last 10 years, the Constitution and the concept of India have been attacked in a planned manner... Crores of people who opposed the Constitution and the ideas of the BJP have been attacked. Many people were attacked personally. Many leaders were put in jail. One of our leaders (Hemant Soren) has just come out of jail and one leader (Arvind Kejriwal) is in jail."

He said, "I was attacked. More than 20 cases were registered against me on the orders of the government, the Prime Minister, I was sentenced to two years... I was questioned for 55 hours.''

The Congress leader said, "I want to tell the BJP and the RSS what ideas we have used to protect the concept of India." He showed a picture of Lord Shankar in the House and said that Shivji says "Don't be afraid, don't scare me."

He said, "Lord Shiva says don't be afraid, don't scare me."

Referring to Lord Shiva's 'Abhaya Mudra', he said that this mudra is mentioned in all religions, Islam, Sikhism, Christianity, Buddhism and Jainism.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, while participating in the discussion on the motion of thanks brought on the President's address, also said that a Hindu can never commit violence, can never spread hatred and fear.

He said that the BJP people intimidate, attack and spread hatred against minorities, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians, but the minorities have stood firmly like a rock with this country and have represented India in different fields.

Amidst a heated exchange between the ruling and opposition members in the House, Rahul Gandhi said, "Those who call themselves Hindus talk about violence 24 hours a day. You (BJP) are not Hindus."

Rahul Gandhi said, "Narendra Modi is not the entire Hindu society. BJP is not the entire Hindu society. RSS is not the entire Hindu society. This contract is not of the BJP."

Referring to the Lok Sabha elections, he said, "The country has together protected the Constitution. It feels good that the people of BJP are now saying Constitution, Constitution.

Referring to the defeat of the BJP in Ayodhya, Rahul Gandhi said that Lord Shri Ram has given a message to the BJP.

Referring to his conversation with SP MP Awadhesh Prasad from Ayodhya (Faizabad), he claimed, "Narendra Modi conducted a survey twice to contest elections from Ayodhya. Those who conducted the survey clearly said that do not contest the election from Ayodhya, the people of Ayodhya will defeat you. That is why Narendra Modi went to Varanasi and escaped from there as well.''

Referring to the alleged irregularities in the medical entrance exam 'NEET-UG', Rahul Gandhi alleged that this government has converted a professional exam into a 'professional exam'.

He said that now students do not have faith in the NEET exam and they feel that it has been prepared to help students from rich families.

Referring to the 'Agneepath' scheme, the Congress leader said that discrimination has been created among the soldiers and on the death of 'Agniveers' they do not get the status of martyr and their families do not get pension and assistance like a common soldier.

Rahul Gandhi said that the army and the Agniveers know everything. He alleged that the 'Agneepath' scheme is not the army, but the brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
