BJP-RSS nurturing politics of hatred: Congress on Sambhal violence

NEW DELHI:  Congress on Sunday attacked the Yogi government over the violence in Sambhal and said that no one is "safe" in Uttar Pradesh.

Pawan Khera, the head of the media and publicity department of the Congress, said, "No citizen is 'safe' in Uttar Pradesh under the rule of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who gave the reprehensible slogan 'Bantenge to Katenge'.

“The way videos of direct firing on protesters in Sambhal have surfaced, it is the ill effect of a well-planned conspiracy of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP and RSS. Western Uttar Pradesh has been a symbol of goodwill and harmony for years. Three people were killed and many were injured there under a conspiracy”,he alleged.

Pawan Khera, calling the BJP and RSS "guilty" for spoiling the harmony of Sambhal, said that the lives of the deceased were taken by the "Yogi administration itself". He alleged that the administration was fully prepared to somehow spoil the atmosphere of the state in Sambhal and through Sambhal. Earlier, during the communal violence in Bahraich, the city was handed over to the rioters.

He alleged, the Yogi government has further intensified the politics of violence and hatred. Questions are being raised on the role of the police and administration, as many innocent people have lost their lives in this violence and more than 24 people have been injured. Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan 'Ek Hain To Safe Hain' as "hollow", he questioned what kind of message of unity is it to build a wall between two communities and kill people.

Pawan Khera said that mutual brotherhood and harmony is being destroyed by the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for political gain. He appealed to the people of Sambhal to recognize the politics of hatred, maintain mutual unity and harmony and take steps to protect their rights in a legal manner.

In Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, there was a ruckus on Sunday morning after the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid on the orders of the court. Soon there was a clash between the protesters and the police. During this, the angry mob set fire to several vehicles and there was heavy stone pelting between both the sides. Three people were killed and more than 20 were injured in firing during the violence. Police have arrested more than 24 people in the case. Internet service has been banned in the district.
