BJP will destroy the cinstitution if returns to power : Rahul Gandhi

BHIND(Madhya Pradesh): Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday claimed that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returns to power at the Centre, it will "tear up the Constitution" that gives rights to the poor, Dalits, tribals and OBCs.

Rahul Gandhi was addressing a rally in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh. Holding a copy of the Constitution in his hand, he said that the current Lok Sabha election is not a normal election, but a fight between two ideologies.

He claimed, “The poor, Dalits, tribals, OBCs have got many rights because of the Constitution, which also gave people MNREGA, land rights, reservation and other things. If BJP comes to power, it will tear this Constitution and throw it away."

Gandhi, claimed, "The Prime Minister, Amit Shah and their MPs have made up their minds that if elected, they will tear up the Constitution. BJP wants this book (Constitution) should be thrown away...''

He also targeted the BJP government on the issue of reservation. He asked that if the ruling government is not against reservation, then why  it is privatizing public sector undertakings (PSUs), railways and other sectors.

Gandhi said that if Congress came to power, it would make crores of women "millionaires" through its Mahalakshmi scheme.

He said that under this scheme, the government will directly send Rs 1 lakh every year Rs 8,500 per month to the accounts of women to make them "millionaires".

Gandhi said, "If Prime Minister Narendra Modi can make 22-25 industrialists billionaires, then Congress will make crores of women millionaires."

Congress has fielded MLA Phool Singh Baraiya against sitting BJP MP Sandhya Rai from Bhind Lok Sabha (reserved) seat.
