Budget: 2025: Cat after eating 900 rats is going to Haj pilgrimage, says Kharge

 By Jagadananda Pradhan
(Fast Mail):--
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday termed the Union Budget as an attempt by the Modi government to fool the people and said that the phrase "after eating 900 rats, the cat went to Haj" fits perfectly on this.

In the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the financial year 2025-26, annual income up to Rs 12 lakh has been exempted from tax under the new tax system.

Kharge posted on 'X', "An idiom fits this budget perfectly, ‘after eating 900 rats, the cat went to Haj’. In the last 10 years, the Modi government has collected income tax of Rs 54.18 lakh crore from the middle income group and now they are giving a rebate of up to Rs 12 lakh. According to that, the Finance Minister herself is saying that there will be a saving of Rs 80,000 in a year, that is, only Rs 6,666 per month.

He said, "The whole country is struggling with the problem of inflation and unemployment, but the Modi government is hell bent on garnering false praise. In this "Ghoshnaveer" budget (the government) has made 'Make in India' a national manufacturing mission to hide its shortcomings. All the other announcements are almost like this."

Kharge alleged that there is nothing for the youth in the budget.

He said,"Modi ji had promised yesterday that he would take a big step for women empowerment in this budget, but nothing like this came out in the budget. There is no roadmap for doubling the income of farmers, no concession was given in GST rate on agricultural goods. There is no plan for health, education, scholarship of Dalit, tribal, backward class, poor and minority children.

The Congress President claimed that there are no corrective steps to increase private investment and failures have been hidden by saying a few superficial things on export and duty.

He said, "Nothing has been done to increase the income of the poor. Not a single step has been taken on the continuously falling consumption. Despite the inflation touching the sky, the budget of MNREGA is the same. Nothing has been done to increase the income of workers."

Kharge alleged, "There has been no talk of any improvement in many rates of GST. There has been no talk of reducing unemployment, increasing jobs. All the schemes of Startup India, Standup India, Skill India proved to be mere announcements."

He claimed that this budget is an attempt by the Modi government to throw dust in the eyes of the people.
