BWF World Tour Finals 2024: Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand lose opening Women’s Doubles Group A match
In Badminton, the Indian duo of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand lost to the top-seeded Chinese pair of Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning 22-20, 20-22, 14-21 in their opening Women’s Doubles Group A match in BWF World Tour Finals 2024 at Hangzhou in China. Treesa and Gayatri will next face the Malaysian pair of Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan tomorrow. Treesa and Gayatri are India’s sole representatives at the World Tour Finals 2024. The duo earned their spot in the prestigious season-ending tournament by finishing eighth in the Race to Finals standings for the year.
The Indian pair recently clinched the Syed Modi International title, boosting their confidence ahead of the event. According to the tournament format, the pairs are divided into two groups of four. Each pair plays all others in their group in a round-robin format, with the top two pairs from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
