Death toll in cholera outbreak raises to 473 in Sudan

 PORT SUDAN:The number of deaths from the ongoing cholera outbreak in Sudan has risen to 473, Sudanese Health Ministry announced on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the total number of cholera cases in the country has reached 14,944, the ministry said in a statement.

 

 The heavy rains and floods that have been affecting Sudan since June have contributed to the spread of cholera.

Sudanese authorities declared cholera an epidemic on Aug. 12.
