Dhenkanal: 3-year old child kidnapped for ransom rescued by police

 DHENKANAL:A man who kidnapped  three year old girl child from Dhenkanal town on Saturday morning was nabbed by police late last night at Rengali of Angul district. The accused Ranjan Sahoo who originally belongs to Jajpur district had been staying at Rengali for some years.He demanded rupees  2 lakh ransom from the parent of the kidnapped child but he was apprehended by Dhenkanal police and the child was rescued last night.The accused Ranjan was arrested today and was also forwarded to court today.

The IIC of Dhekanal town police station Prabhat Sahoo said on Friday evening one Premalata Rana,30 from Dhenkanal town lodged a complaint  that her  3-year-old girl child has been kidnapped by someone from his home.Premalata who belongs to Badamba area of Cuttack has been staying in Dhenkanal with her family.He is  a daily wage earner having two girl child.

 

 The IIC said while police started investigation after getting the complaint there was information that the accused had telephoned to the neighbor of the complainant for ransom.He had told over telephone that    he has already sold the child to a man at Cuttack who will kill child unless rupees 2lakh is paid to him.The IIC said after the telephone call from the accused we traced the call and found that man resides at Rengali area of Angul district.

 “I immediately alerted the IIC of Rengali telling him the details of the accused’s location.I also requested him to immediately rush to the spot and nab the culprit. Accordingly Rengali police went to the location and found the  child intact. Rengali police rescued the child and caught the accused. Then after  a police team from Dhenkanal reached Rengali in the night and brought the kidnapper and the child. Today the child was handed over to her parents n and the kidnapper was forwarded to court”.
