Dhenkanal: Farm house owner shot dead by brother in-law while went for poaching

 DHENKANAL: One Gobinda Naik,a farm house owner was shot dead by his brother-in-law.While they both went poaching near his farm house at Phasi village last night. The poacher became the prey in the process.The deceased has been identified as Gobinda Naik of village Kalanga who is having a farm house at nearby village Phasi.

Both Gobinda and accused Ramesh Naik were related as brother-in-law.They were known to occasionally engage in poaching activities together.

Last night, at about 2.30am Gobinda was resting at his farm house. Meanwhile, Ramesh Naik,the accused, arrived with a loaded country-made gun and told Gobinda to go poaching in a nearby jungle.

Police said, after covering at about five meters Ramesh instructed Gobinda to shake the surrounding bushes with the intention of flushing out any concealed wild animals so that he could take a shot. Following Ramesh’s instructions Gobinda began shaking the bushes.

 

 In the meanwhile, Ramesh sensing the shaking of the tree as the movement of wild animals fired the shots which struck Gobinda.

After that Ramesh found not the wild animals but his brother-in-law got gun-shots,he informed the family members of Gobinda who came and rushed Gobinda to Dhenkanal district medical where doctor declared him dead.

SP Abhinav Sonkar after getting information in the morning rushed to the spot and conducted vigorous investigations into the incident. A case of murder has been registered in Sadar police station on the FIR by Gobinda’s family.

SP said,Ramesh has been arrested and has been forwarded to court on the charge of murder.Further investigations are under way into the incident,he added.
