Encounter in Udhampur After Pahalgam Attack,One Soldier Martyred
Officials said that the gunfight erupted in the Dudu-Basantgarh area during a cordon and search operation launched based on intelligence about the presence of terrorists.
The White Knight Corps stated on 'X', "Based on specific intelligence, a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police was initiated today in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur."
They added that intense firing began when the two sides came face-to-face. The Army said, "In the initial exchange of fire, one of our brave soldiers was critically injured and, despite the best medical efforts, could not be saved." They noted that the encounter was ongoing as per the last reports.
