Gukesh lost 12th game to defending champion Ding Liren of China

 Indian challenger D. Gukesh lost the 12th game to defending champion Ding Liren of China, leveling the World Chess Championship match in Singapore today. Gukesh, 18, had been ahead by one point after his second win on Sunday, following seven consecutive draws. Liren’s victory today tied the score at 6 points each, with two games remaining in the 14-round classical format, requiring 1.5 points to win the title.
