Helicopter flies over Satkosia gorge area violating rules

ANGUL: Defying prohibitory rules,a helicopter flew over Satkosia gorge area at about noon time on Wednessday last.The chopper moved between 1 to 2 pm,according to Regional Chief Consrvator of Forest,Angul circle Sudhansu Khora.

The helicopter belong to whom and for what purposes it was flying is still unknown to forest authorities despite being a core area of the sanctuary.Though the RCCF had written a letter to the directors of Jharguda and Bhubaneswar airport,no response so far has reached to his office.The flying of the helicopter has raised concern of the environmentalists who demand strong action against the violators of Wildlife Act.

The RCCF has maintained though this is the core area of sanctuary but the wildlife protection act doesn’t apply due to it’s flied in the sky.Still he said he has sought information from two airport authorities to know about the details of the helicopter and reason for flying over gorge area.

The RCCF also said after receiving the response from air port authorities actions if necessary will be taken against the culprits.
