JSP affected held big demo in front of Steel plant
They blocked all gates of the plant including the main gate and held a large meeting lambasting at the Steel Plant. JSP which has already completed 6MT of project is going to have ultimate 25million tonne capacity per annum by 2030.
The speakers came down heavily on the Steel plant on account of acute pollution, denial of local employment, emission of sulphur dioxide and fly-as from the power plant and others. The leaders demanded to create a green belt over 2,000 acres of acquired land.
After two three hours of blockade a team of government officials reached the spot and held a discussion with them. It was agreed a Project Level Committee will be constituted within a week which will hold discussion with the agitating leaders. The congress leader Sashmita Behera warned of more agitations in future if the plant authorities fail to implement the agreement.
On the other hand, a company spokesman said plant authorities is taking all out measures to contain pollution and is aware of providing employment to the locals as per the state government norms.
