Kangana's 'Emergency' halted across Punjab amid fear of protests

 CHANDIGARH: Kangana Ranaut's latest film 'Emergency' is facing strong protests in Punjab, with local Sikh organizations demanding a complete ban.

The movie, based on the 1975 Emergency period, has sparked big controvery over its historical representation and potential community sensitivities.

According to reports,local administrations in Patiala, Amritsar, and Bathinda have stopped screenings to maintain peace. The controversy highlights the complex intersection of cinema, history, and regional sentiment.

 

 Reportedly, the  SGPC has demanded ban on the film over alleged misrepresentation of Sikhs.

SGPC has demand a ban on the film in Punjab, which is scheduled to release on January 17, 2025.

Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Congress leader has also demanded the ban on the film.
