Maha Kumbh Stampede : Administration engaged in appeasement of VIPs,alleges Mahamandeleshwar Premanand Giri

 While talking to media, he said,”The  administration has completely failed. The administration was only pursuing a policy of appeasement. The administration was only serving the VIPs. I saw that all the VIPs who came here, the administration were only doing his ‘Ji Hajuri. Apart from this, the administration had nothing to do with Kumbh. There was no point in any arrangement”.

Amid tears,Mahamandeleshwar Premanand said that when all the Akharas were saying that Mahakumbh should be handed over to the army. “There is no dearth of service minded people in our country. I don't think there would have been such a big accident if it had been done by the army”,he said.

A stampede broke out amid a huge crowd at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj on Tuesday midnight.

Multiple casualties were feared after a "stampede-like" situation broke out at the Sangam on Wednesday amid the ongoing Maha Kumbh, as millions of pilgrims turned up for a holy bath on Mauni Amavasya, officials said.

While the release of official news updates on the casualties appeared controlled, Reuters reported that more than seven people were killed and around 10 injured.
