No more sarees in Air India : May bring in new look for flight crew
It is being told that a special churidar designed uniform has been selected for women. Men's uniform will also change. Suit will be included for them also.Air India is going to change the uniform after six decades.
It is almost certain that sarees will be removed from the wardrobe of women employees by November. Until 1962, the uniform of female personnel consisted of a skirt, jacket and hat. But after that, following the instructions of late JRD Tata, sports sarees were included as uniform. The responsibility of the new look of the crew has been given to famous designer Manish Malhotra. From whose side no comment has been made in this regard yet.
But it is being said that in the new look you will also be given the option of traditional look. Quoting sources, it has been learned that churidars will be provided for women and suits will be provided for male crew members. Saree will be completely removed from the uniform. At the same time, it has also been said on behalf of another officer that the saree cannot be completely sent off right now.
A retired female crew from Air India has expressed her displeasure over this. She says that till 1972, we were taught to wear saree properly and we also liked working in this uniform. It has been told that the color of the new uniform can be dark red, purple or gold.
Vistara has also been merged with Air India. Its uniform will also be the same now. The airline's new uniform will be first seen on the A350 aircraft. An announcement in this regard has also been made by the airline's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Campbell Wilson on August 10.
