On Extradition of Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh Govt Threatens India! Chaos in Bangladesh at midnight

NEW DELHI:The interim government of Bangladesh led by Yunus has  threatened India demanding the extradition of Sheikh Hasina.Bangladesh wants to bring back the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from India under the extradition treaty, says the home Advisor Lieutenant General (Retired) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Wednesday.

The Information and Broadcasting Advisor Nahid Islam said,”If Sheikh Hasina is allowed to conduct political activities from there, then India will be responsible for it. We have asked India to send Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh, and this is a diplomatic issue, but if Sheikh Hasina tries to do politics from there, holds political meetings in India, then the Indian government will be responsible for it."

Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has issued arrest warrants against Hasina and several former cabinet ministers, advisers and military and civilian officials for 'crimes against humanity and genocide'.

Chowdhury  said, "We are trying to bring back those who are facing trial in the ICT on charges of crimes against humanity."

He said this while responding to a question on the steps taken by the government to arrest more than 100 accused against whom the ICT has issued arrest warrants.

Last year, Bangladesh sent a diplomatic note to the Indian government seeking Hasina's extradition. The Home Advisor said that they are arresting those living in the country, while efforts are on to bring back others living abroad.

Sheikh Hasina has been living in India since August 5 last year, when she came to India from Bangladesh amid massive protests led by students. After the widespread protests, the 16-year-old government of her party Awami League fell.

Amidst the on-going turmoil and violence in Bangladesh, ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed some supporters of the Awami League party through Facebook Live on Wednesday during which, she said that the movement started against her in Bangladesh is to kill her. Hasina clearly said that Mohammad Yunus had planned to kill me and my sister.

Hasina said that if Allah has kept me alive despite these attacks, then something must have been done. She said that if this was not the case, how would I have defeated death so many times?

Sheikh Hasina mentioned the attack on her residence in her address. She asked why the house was set on fire? I demand justice from the people of Bangladesh. Have I not done anything for my country? Then why so much insult? Hasina said that the memories of me and my sister that were left are now erased. The house can be burnt but history cannot be erased.

There were massive protests in Bangladesh at midnight on Wednesday.Protesters set fire to the residence of Bangladesh's father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi-32. His house was demolished with a bulldozer.

Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in her address that they still do not have enough strength to destroy the national flag, the constitution and the freedom with a bulldozer, which we have achieved at the cost of the lives of millions of martyrs. They can demolish the house, but not the history. “History is not erased with a bulldozer”, she said.

The situation in Bangladesh continues to remain serious. The situation in Bangladesh has become more serious just one evening before the Awami League demonstration. According to the Dhaka Tribune report, the rioters broke the gate and forcibly entered the residence of Sheikh Mujiburahman. It is alleged that this protest took place in response to an online speech given by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
