On the way to Sambhal Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka stopped by UP police at Ghazipur border
He said, “I am ready to go alone. I am ready to go with the police. But even then they did not agree and now they are telling us that if we come back in a few days, they will let us go. This is against the rights of the leader of the opposition.”
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi raised the Constitution in his hand and said, “This is against the Constitution. We want to go there and see what has happened there. But we are being stopped. We want to meet the people. But I am not being given my constitutional right.”
Rahul Gandhi's sister and senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi also expressed displeasure over being stopped. He said, "Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the opposition. It is his constitutional right to go to Sambhal. He should be given permission so that he can go and meet the victim families. Rahul Gandhi can go alone and meet the families of the victims. But, the police is not giving any answer on this also."
Rahul Gandhi left for Sambhal on Wednesday morning with his party leaders. But, as soon as he reached Ghazipur border, he was stopped by the UP police. Section 163 is currently in force in Sambhal.
