Pakistan Train Hijacking: Pak Army Rescues 104 Hostages, BLA Claims Killing 30 Soldiers

The Pakistani army has rescued 104 hostages from a hijacked train. Meanwhile, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), the group responsible for hijacking the train, has claimed that it killed 30 Pakistani soldiers during the operation. Of the 104 passengers rescued from the train hijacked by the BLA, 17 injured individuals have been taken to the hospital. Additionally, 16 BLA members were reportedly killed during the operation, according to reports.

In Pakistan’s Balochistan province, the BLA hijacked the Jaffar Express train on Tuesday, taking over 100 passengers hostage. The train was carrying 214 Pakistani citizens, though it is reported that not all passengers were held captive by the BLA.

The BLA had issued a statement following the hijacking, warning the Shehbaz Sharif government and stating that if the Pakistani army took action against them, they would kill all the hostages.

The Jaffar Express, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar in Balochistan, was hijacked by the BLA on Tuesday. Following the incident, the Pakistani army launched an operation to rescue the hostages. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that despite the challenging terrain, Pakistani soldiers were bravely working to free the captives.

The BLA considers Balochistan a separate nation and operates its own parallel government in the province. The group demands the complete withdrawal of all Pakistani agencies and security forces from Balochistan.

The Baloch also allege that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, undertaken in collaboration with China, have led to the exploitation of their mineral resources. They claim that these projects have displaced large numbers of local communities, and the Baloch strongly oppose the CPEC initiative.
