PM Modi Is Trying To Distort 2024 Mandate Through President's Address: Kharge

NEW DELHI:Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday alleged that after listening to the President's "Modi Government's scripted" address, it seemed that Prime Minister Modi was trying to deny the mandate of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He also claimed that Prime Minister Modi is trying to applaud himself by making the President "lie", while the people of the country have rejected him. Kharge said that the address did not mention major issues like inflation, unemployment, violence in Manipur and terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.

President Draupadi Murmu addressed the joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament for the first time in the eighteenth Lok Sabha on Thursday. He said that the world is seeing that the people of India have formed a stable and clear majority government for the third consecutive time and this has happened after six decades.

Reacting sharply to the speech, the Congress president alleged, "Overall, Modi ji is making a cheap attempt to garner applause by making His Excellency the President tells lies, whereas the people of India have rejected him in the 2024 elections."

Kharge wrote in a post on 'X', "Listening to the President's speech written by the Modi government, it seemed as if Modi ji is trying his best to deny the mandate. The mandate was against him, because the people of the country rejected his slogan of "400 Paar" and also kept the BJP away from the figure of 272. Modi ji is not ready to accept this.

He is behaving as if nothing has changed, whereas the truth is that the people of the country had asked for change. He said, "I will give a detailed response in my speech in the Rajya Sabha, but prima facie I want to say a few things. There will be no cover-up in the NEET scam.

The Congress president claimed, "In the last five years, out of the 66 recruitment exams conducted by the NTA, at least 12 have been paper leaked and rigged, affecting more than 75 lakh youth. The Modi government cannot escape its responsibility by merely saying that "we should rise above party politics". He said that the youth is seeking justice and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will have to take responsibility for it.

Kharge said, "Every second youth in the country is unemployed and no concrete policy to address unemployment has come out in the speech. The problem is not solved by just talking, decisive steps have to be taken for this."

He said that nothing was said in the speech about the five major issues facing the country - backbreaking inflation, violence in Manipur, rail accidents and the plight of passenger trains, terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and the increasing atrocities on Dalits, tribals and minorities in BJP-ruled states.

Kharge alleged that Narendra Modi's speeches during the elections have repeatedly confirmed the fact that the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's only intention is to divide the society.

He claimed, "In BJP ruled states like Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam and Uttar Pradesh, after the Modi government came to power, incidents of mob lynching, mobocracy, communal violence and illegal bulldozing of the houses of the poor have increased. But the ruling party is completely silent."
