Pratapgarhi exposes Amit Shah's lies on the Waqf Amendment Bill in Rajya Sabha

NEW DELHI:  Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi launched a fierce attack on the Modi government during a discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha.

The Congress MP stated that this bill has been brought to seize the properties of Muslims and push this community to the margins.

In his poetic style, the poet Imran took a dig at the BJP, saying, "The world will call us murderers, and it is we who will be massacred." He recalled the historic statement of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, saying that during the time of independence, when Muslims were being advised to leave the country, in 1947, standing on the steps of Delhi's Jama Masjid, 'Bharat Ratna' Maulana Abul Kalam Azad had said, "Muslims, where are you going? This is your country."

Pratapgarhi further said that at that time, hearing Maulana Azad's call, people had put down the bundles on their heads. Today, in that same Delhi, a bill has been introduced in the country's Parliament that will demand proof of those very steps of Jama Masjid. Maulana Azad, who lies asleep in his grave near those steps, will have to be called upon again to say, "This grave is mine; it is not the fiefdom of any government."

The Constitution says that everyone in the country is entitled to equality. Everyone has the right to build and maintain temples, mosques, and gurdwaras for their religious practices.

But this government, which tramples Baba Saheb's Constitution every day, has become so blinded by its hatred for the Muslims of the country that a government minister lies in the full Parliament to mislead the nation.

The government has named the Waqf Bill "Umeed" (Hope). But the truth is that this bill is neither hope nor a ray of hope for Muslims.

Today, I want to ask my fellow countrymen, brothers, and sisters—

Do you need jobs and prosperity for your children, or a law that conspires to hand over the donated lands of Muslims to wealthy tycoons?

When this government was bringing the Waqf Bill at 3 a.m., waking up the entire country and humiliating its own citizens, at that very moment, America was imposing a 26% tariff on us.

The priorities of this government are clear to the entire nation.
