Rahul Gandhi : Waqf Bill is an attack on religious freedom and the Constitution, it is anti-Constitutional

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday claimed that the Waqf Amendment Act passed by Parliament is an attack on religious freedom and an anti-Constitutional step. He also warned that in the coming days, other minority communities will be targeted as well.

Addressing the party convention here, he further said that the people of the country are fed up with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and change is imminent. Rahul Gandhi stated, "The Waqf Bill (Act) is an attack on religious freedom and the Constitution. It is anti-Constitutional."

He claimed that an article in the RSS-affiliated magazine Organiser talked about targeting Christian lands, and in the future, the Sikh community will face the same.

Rahul Gandhi asserted that the country is tired of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and this will be evident in the Bihar Assembly elections. He emphasized, "Change is coming in the near future; the mood of the people is visible."

Referring to his demand for a caste census in Parliament, he said that a revolutionary step has been taken in Telangana with a caste-based survey.

Rahul said, "The aim is to find out how much participation each group has."

Rahul Gandhi stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) have outright rejected the idea of a caste census.

He reiterated that when Congress and the opposition form the government at the Centre, a caste census will be conducted.

The Congress leader also said that the participation of 90 percent of the country’s population in the private sector is negligible. He added that the 50 percent reservation cap will be broken.

Accusing the BJP government of targeting institutions, Rahul Gandhi said that the Centre is closing doors for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and OBCs.

Mentioning the Agnipath scheme, Rahul Gandhi said that opportunities for the poor, Dalits, and tribals to join the army have been eliminated.

Referring to the new tariff policy implemented by the Donald Trump administration in the US, Rahul Gandhi said, "Donald Trump is called a friend by Modi ji. He talked about imposing new tariffs, but the Prime Minister didn’t utter a word."

Rahul Gandhi claimed that an economic storm is about to hit the country.

He said that to distract from the Trump tariffs, a late-night drama was staged in Parliament over the Waqf Amendment Bill.

Mentioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus in Bangkok, Rahul Gandhi said that Yunus made statements against India, yet the Prime Minister sat with him.

He remarked, “Where did the 56-inch chest go?”

Accusing the Centre of attacking the Constitution and the country’s institutions, Rahul Gandhi said, "This is a battle of ideologies. A party without an ideology cannot stand up to the BJP and RSS. Only a party with an ideology can defeat the BJP and RSS."

Rahul Gandhi claimed that when the Constitution was being drafted, the RSS burned a copy of it at Ramlila Maidan.
