RSS-BJP are anti-national, never contributed to freedom struggle : Kharge

NEW DELHI: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday urged party workers to unite to save the Constitution at the 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhaan' rally in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, saying that if this does not happen, dalits, backward classes, tribals and the poor will suffer. Kharge termed the BJP-RSS people as anti-national and said that the Congress will never tolerate exploitation of the poor in the name of religion.

Taking a dig at the BJP leaders who took a holy dip in the Maha Kumbh, Kharge asked whether poverty can be eradicated by taking a dip in the Ganga. He said that his intention is not to hurt anyone's faith. But BJP leaders are competing with each other to take a dip in the Ganga river for the sake of cameras. They take a dip until they get a good picture.

The Congress President said that the RSS people who are abusing the Congress today did nothing in the country's freedom struggle because they were with the British. Kharge said, "At the time of Gandhiji's death, RSS members celebrated and distributed sweets. In such a situation, the government had no choice but to take action against RSS. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel ordered to ban RSS. Today, the same RSS people work to create a rift between Vallabhbhai Patel and Nehru. Nehru ji had said - together we should destroy the communal poison that killed the greatest man of our era. Those forces should be uprooted. Nehru ji also said that people who distributed sweets on the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi are not even worthy of being called Indians. RSS-BJP are traitors."

Kharge said, "RSS-BJP are anti-national. If you want to free yourself from poverty and unemployment, protect the Constitution and stay united.'' He said Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks on Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha while responding to a debate on the Constitution last year reflected his "real feelings" towards the Constitution maker.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Kharge said on one hand Narendra Modi salutes the Constitution and on the other hand, he does everything against it. He said, 'Don't be fooled by Narendra Modi's false promises. He has committed so many sins that he cannot go to heaven even in 100 births.'
