Supreme Court takes suo motu cognizance of Kolkata rape and murder case, CJI's bench will hear on Tuesday

 NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance of the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and decided to hear the case on August 20. Now on Tuesday, a bench of Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra will hear the case of rape and murder of a female doctor.

 

 Meanwhile,protests are being held at different places across the country over the case.Doctors of all hospitals have demanded the strictest punishment for all the accused involved in this incident. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has also said that the culprits should be given the harshest punishment. Apart from this, the reasons for the incident should also be investigated and immediate steps should be taken to improve the safety of doctors.
