Telangana: CM Revanth Reddy Announces 42% Reservation for OBC Community

 HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made a significant announcement for the OBC (Other Backward Classes) community on Monday,decaring that the OBC population would be ensured 42 percent reservation in education, employment, and political representation.

CM Reddy also shared a post on his official social media platform, describing it as the fulfillment of the long-standing demand of backward classes since India’s independence.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in his “X” handle  said,”It is my honour to announce the longest pending demand of the subaltern groups since Indian Independence, the yearning of our brothers & sisters belonging to the Backward Castes, on being counted & recognised in an official census - has finally found deliverance”.

 

 He further stated, “Today, as the leader of the Telangana Legislative Assembly and as Chief Minister, I solemnly announce that, based on the hard work of our people and scientifically conducted surveys, we can say that the OBC population in Telangana is 56.36 percent. We now resolve to ensure that this group receives 42 percent reservation in all fields, including education, employment, and political representation.”

Calling this decision historic, Revanth Reddy said it is a major step that will bring about changes in the state’s social and economic framework. He appealed to all citizens to support this historic move and make it a part of their lives.

Following this decision by the government, the OBC community in Telangana will gain equal participation in various government services and opportunities. This reservation announcement will promote social equality and inclusivity in the state and aid in the development of backward classes.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s announcement could bring significant changes to Telangana’s social and political landscape in the coming years, potentially creating better opportunities for the OBC community.
