Thalassemia Sickle Cell Society (TSCS) requests Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s support towards the eradication of Thalassemia in Telangana
TSCS team had briefed Asaduddin Owaisi all the services given to Thalassemia patients at the society are FREE - including consultation, blood transfusion, medicines, tests & investigations etc. The society has even succeeded to complete 97 free BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT’s. The work being done by the society in selflessly serving the Thalassemia Children has been supported by Govt. of Telangana. The govt is supporting Thalassemia patients under the AAROGYASHREE scheme and steps are being taken for eradication of this deadly genetic blood disorder.
During the meeting, the Thalassemia Sickle Cell and Society members shared their concerns about the prevalence of Thalassemia in the state and the lack of awareness and resources available to combat the disease. They highlighted the urgent need for government to increase awareness, provide access to treatment and screening and other helpful measures to eradicate the Thalassemia in the state.
The AIMIM party President Asaduddin Owaisi responded positively and expressed his commitment to supporting the eradication of Thalassemia in Telangana. He acknowledged the gravity of the situation and promised to arrange the meeting with the Chief Minister of Telangana to discuss about the bill passing in the assembly regarding the mandatory HbA2 test for the pregnant women in their first trimester.
Talking about the meeting TSCS President, Dr.Chandrakant Agarwal said “We are so delighted to meet our dear Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi sir. We spoke about all the necessary actions that should be taken to eradicate Thalassemia in the state as well as in the country. He has shown interest in the welfare of those patients suffering with the disease and offered to help eradicate Thalassemia in Telangana state. Mr. Owaisi has assured to visit the TSCS society at Shivrampally and also said that he will try to have a discussion with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana Shri. Kalavakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao about the thalassemia situation and request him to pass the Bill by the Government making (HbA2) mandatory for first-trimester pregnancy women as a first step to eradicating Thalassemia.”
Thalassemia can be easily eradicated forever. If a BILL is passed by Govt. by making a simple test, (HbA2) mandatory, for all pregnant women in their first trimester of pregnancy.
