Three held for ganja trafficking in Dhenkanal

DHENKANAL: Dhenkanal town police has nabbed three ganja traffickers and sized more than 30kg of ganja from them by intercepting a bolero at Korian bypass today.The arrested majboor mandal,36,Rakesh Shil,22 and Mohara Sheikh,25.All are from Murshibad district of West Bengal.Police also seized the bolero and the ganja while being trafficking on national Highway 55.

Police sources said, that a police team by Ghanistha Mohanta was doing patrolling on NH-55 while it saw a bolero coming in a suspicious manner. Police tried to stop the vehicle but they didn’t stop resuting in a chase.Finally police team intercepted the bolero and found on search around 30kg of ganja hidden in three gunny bags.The bolero and the accused were taken to Dhenkanal town police station where the accused were interrogated intensively.

The three acused were arrested and forwarded to court under NDPS Act.Dhenkanal SDPO Bibhuti Mohapatra said these three accused hailing from West Bengal have been carrying out ganja trafficking from Angul and Dhenkanal.They stayed in Angul for last one year and were involved in transportation of ganja from Angul to Dhenkanal town. He said earlier police had no knowledge of such ganja trafficking between Angul and Dhenkanal districts till this case was came to light. He said further investigations are on about where the ganja came and to where it was to be delivered.
