NEW DELHI: On Friday, Congress slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue of retaliatory tariffs imposed by the United States, alleging that American President Donald Trump is issuing threats, yet the diplomatic team of the "self-proclaimed Vishwaguru" (world leader) seems helpless.
Congress MPs protested in the Parliament premises over the tariff issue and demanded answers from the Prime Minister.
The party's organization general secretary, KC Venugopal, posted on X, "How has the self-proclaimed 'Vishwaguru' allowed others to dictate our foreign and trade policies? His good friend is threatening us, and his diplomatic team is completely helpless."
He added, "The tariffs imposed by the US pose a risk of disrupting our economy and have long-term effects on our country's stability, including impacts on our national security."
Venugopal further stated, "I, along with other MPs, had given a notice for an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, but we were not given the opportunity to speak on this serious issue. We protested outside Parliament to demand a discussion on this matter."
