Visionary National Icon Ratan Tata Dies At 86

MUMBAI: Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of one of India's biggest conglomerates,Tata Sons, has died at 86.Ratan Tata passed away late Wednesday night. He was 86 years old. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for problems related to old age. Tata Group has confirmed the death of Ratan Tata.

With the sad demise of Ratan Tata, India has lost an icon who combined corporate development with nation building and excellence with ethics. Awarded with Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan, he carried forward the great legacy of Tata and gave it a more impressive global presence.

He inspired experienced professionals and young students alike. His contribution to philanthropy and charity is invaluable. President Draupadi Murmu has expressed grief over the death of Ratan Tata. She offered her condolences to his family, the entire team of Tata Group and his fans around the world.'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the death of Ratan Tata. In his post, Modi described Ratan Tata as a visionary business leader, a kind person and an extraordinary human being.

Rahul Gandhi said: "Ratan Tata was a man with a vision. He has left a lasting mark on both business and philanthropy. My condolences to his family and the Tata community."

Hailing the industry giant, Gautam Adani said "legends like him never fade away".

 

 After his death, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said,”We are bidding farewell to Ratan Naval Tata with a sense of extreme loss. He is truly an extraordinary leader whose incomparable contribution has shaped not only the Tata Group but also the basic structure of our nation”.

He further said that "Ratan Tata was more than a chairperson for the Tata Group. For me, he was a guru, guide and friend. He inspired by setting an example. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity and innovation, the Tata Group expanded its global footprint under his leadership. He always remained true to his ethical principles."

Harsh Goenka mourned the death of Ratan Tata and wrote on X, “Ratan Tata was an example of integrity, ethical leadership and philanthropy. He has left an indelible mark on the world of business and beyond. He will always be high in our memories”                                                                                                                                                                 

Goutam Adani wrote on X, "India has lost a great, visionary man who redefined the path of modern India. Ratan Tata was not just a business leader, he embodied the spirit of the country with integrity, compassion and an unwavering commitment to the wider good. The shine of great men like him never fades."

Google CEO Sundar Pichai tweeted, "In my last meeting with Ratan Tata at Google, we talked about the progress of Waymo and it was inspiring to hear his vision. He has left an extraordinary business and philanthropic legacy and has played a key role in guiding and developing modern business leadership in India. He had a deep understanding of making India better."

Ratan Tata was born on 28 September 1937. Apart from being a billionaire, he is seen as a kind, simple and noble person. Ratan Tata's contribution to the business world of India is very important. He has been awarded India's two highest civilian awards Padma Vibhushan (2008) and Padma Bhushan (2000). He is an alumnus of the prestigious Cathedral and John Connon School, Bishop Cotton School (Shimla), Cornell University and Harvard.
